Every call starts with your business.

  1. Research

Before the first call, we map your market and study your company within it.

  2. Outreach

We call on behalf of one buyer, and we tell you who it is and why we called you.

  3. Conversation

In the first conversation, we learn what you want for the business and for yourself.

“I got 180 of these requests last year. When I responded to Grey Fox, I had four that day.”

  4. Introduction

You meet the buyer when both sides see a fit, and we stay involved through the close.

What a partnership can mean for your business.

Over five years, six companies in the same industry join yours. Together they buy at better prices, share one leadership team and back office, and win larger customers than any of them could alone. Yearly earnings grow from $2.5 million to $12.5 million, and a company of that size sells at a higher multiple of its earnings, so the 20% you keep can end up worth more than the 80% you sold.

What you receiveSell 100%Sell 80%, keep 20%
At the sale$15M$12M
Five years later–$15.2M
In all$15M$27.2M

The figures are illustrative. They assume borrowing of 3.0 times earnings at the sale, six add-ons bought at 5.0 times their earnings, interest at 9% a year, and a later sale after five years at 9.0 times earnings, with the company’s debt repaid first, before taxes and fees. A later sale and the stake’s value are not guaranteed.

Questions owners ask.

“Within the first four or five minutes, you answered a lot of my questions: what direction you’ve got, what size of company you’re looking at, how we’d fit.”

One of the buyers we represent has a specific reason to be interested in your company, established in research before anyone called. On the call you learn which buyer it is, why it is interested and where your company stands in its thinking.

No. Grey Fox does not list companies or run sale processes. We represent buyers, and your company is discussed only with the buyer whose strategy it fits.

The buyer retains and pays us. You pay no fee for an introduction.

Yes. What you share stays between Grey Fox and the firm behind the call, and an NDA is signed once both sides see a fit.

No. Many of the owners we speak with are years away from any decision. The relationship is what matters at that stage: you learn about us and about our client, we learn what you are looking for, and by the time you are ready to decide, the groundwork is already in place.
